Kota Kinabalu (Jan 21) - Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan has officially taken on the role of Chairman of Suria Capital Holdings Berhad, with his appointment taking effect on Wednesday.
Abdul Rahman, who served two terms as the Member of Parliament for Kota Belud, brings extensive experience from his previous federal roles, including as Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, and later as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of the Economic Planning Unit. He has also chaired several key organisations, namely Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Seeds Capital Group.
Suria Capital Group managing director Datuk Ahmad Rizal Dahli said Abdul Rahman’s background in economic planning and oil and gas–related development is well aligned with Suria Capital’s mandate to support industrial expansion, port-driven trade and logistics activities.
In accepting the appointment, Abdul Rahman noted that Suria Capital and its subsidiaries play an important role in enabling trade and industrial operations in Sabah and the surrounding region. He said he looks forward to working closely with the board and management to advance the company’s long-term strategy and growth.
Suria Capital also expressed appreciation to outgoing chairman Datuk Faisyal Datuk Yusof Hamdain Diego for his leadership over the past decade, during which the company recorded significant growth and development.
For Sabahans, Abdul Rahman’s appointment is seen as reinforcing leadership at a key state-linked company that underpins port operations, logistics and industrial activity—sectors that directly influence employment opportunities and economic growth in Sabah.
