Kota Kinabalu (Feb 1) - Sabah’s running calendar will reach a major highlight with the return of the Borneo Half Marathon 2026, scheduled to take place on Sunday, 8 February 2026, in the heart of Kota Kinabalu.
The race will begin at Padang Merdeka, with the first flag-off at 4.30am, allowing runners to experience the city in the cool early morning hours. The Borneo Half Marathon has become one of Sabah’s most anticipated annual sporting events, drawing local and international runners to test their endurance while enjoying the city’s scenic urban routes.
Ahead of race day, participants are required to attend the Sports Expo & Race Pack Collection, which will be held over two days from 6 to 7 February 2026, between 10.00am and 6.00pm, at Dewan Serbaguna Luyang. The expo will not only serve as the official race pack collection point but also feature sports-related booths, partner showcases and activities catering to runners and fitness enthusiasts.
Organisers expect strong participation this year, reflecting the growing popularity of distance running in Sabah and the event’s reputation for professional organisation and community support. The marathon is co-organised with the involvement of local running clubs and supported by official logistics, hydration and sports nutrition partners.
The Borneo Half Marathon 2026 is more than just a race, as it also promotes healthy living, sports tourism and community engagement, while showcasing Kota Kinabalu as a vibrant destination for major sporting events.
Runners and members of the public are encouraged to plan ahead, collect their race packs early, and arrive on race day well before flag-off to ensure a smooth and memorable experience.
