KOTA KINABALU - The Sabah state government has approved special financial assistance (BKK) amounting to one month’s salary or a minimum of RM2,000 for its 18,853 civil servants, with payments to be made in stages ahead of Aidilfitri and the Kaamatan festival.

Deputy Chief Minister II, who is also State Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the BKK allocation will involve a total expenditure of RM52.6 million.

He explained that the payments will be disbursed in two phases, with the first scheduled for February next year before Aidilfitri, followed by a second phase in May ahead of Kaamatan.

Masidi made the announcement while tabling the state budget during the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) sitting, noting that civil servants play a crucial role in supporting the administration and governance of the state.

He said that in addition to salary adjustments, the state government is extending the BKK as a form of appreciation to its public service workforce.

In addition, Masidi announced that retired state government employees will also receive special financial assistance of RM1,000, which is slated for payment next year.
