KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Budget 2026 tabled today has been described as a comprehensive plan capable of addressing the state’s long-standing “three critical issues” involving roads, electricity supply and water services.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the budget places strong emphasis on multiple areas, with the well-being of the people forming its central focus.

According to him, the budget is guided by its theme, which prioritises public welfare, and this approach will shape the government’s implementation plans for the coming year. He added that special attention has been given to resolving the key infrastructure challenges of water supply, road connectivity and electricity, particularly in rural areas, which remain among the government’s top priorities.

He also said continued assistance and protection will be provided to underprivileged communities, alongside sustained support for education and human capital development, especially for school-going children.

Hajiji was speaking to reporters after the presentation of the Sabah Budget 2026 at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly building today.

The state government has proposed a RM6.402 billion budget for 2026, slightly below the projected state revenue target of RM6.430 billion.

The budget was presented by Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

With the theme “Driving Development, People’s Well-Being as the Priority,” Hajiji said the budget will serve as a key foundation for advancing development efforts and improving the quality of life of Sabahans.
