Shahelmey Yahya Takes Helm at SOGDC as New Chairman

Kota Kinabalu (Jan 16) - Datuk Shahelmey Yahya has assumed the role of chairman of Sabah Oil and Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (SOGDC), bringing ministerial-level oversight to the state-owned company as it charts its future direction.

Following his appointment, Shahelmey paid an official visit to SOGDC’s headquarters, where he was briefed on the corporation’s operations and current priorities. He was welcomed by chief executive officer and managing director Mohd Azmir Ramli together with the senior management team.

The initial engagement signalled the new chairman’s commitment to gaining a clear understanding of SOGDC’s functions, obligations and strategic focus areas. During the briefing, Shahelmey highlighted the importance of sound governance practices, close monitoring of corporate performance and a coordinated management approach across SOGDC and its subsidiaries.

SOGDC said its management and staff have expressed full professional support for Shahelmey’s leadership, voicing confidence that his appointment will reinforce the corporation’s position as a key state entity driving Sabah’s socio-economic progress.
