Kuala Lumpur (May 15) - ASUS has officially launched its latest 2026 Republic of Gamers (ROG) Zephyrus gaming laptop lineup in Malaysia, introducing upgraded high-performance models aimed at gamers, creators, and professional users seeking desktop-level power in portable form factors.
The refreshed series includes the new ROG Zephyrus G14 and ROG Zephyrus G16, both featuring next-generation processors and NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTX 50-series laptop graphics cards.
The new lineup starts from RM13,999, positioning the devices firmly within Malaysia’s premium gaming laptop segment.
The Zephyrus G16 stands out as the flagship model, featuring up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU paired with an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H processor. ASUS said the laptop is designed to handle demanding AAA gaming, AI-assisted workflows, content creation, and productivity tasks simultaneously.
The G16 also features a 16-inch ROG Nebula HDR OLED display with 240Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, and peak brightness reaching 1,100 nits, targeting users who prioritise both gaming performance and visual quality. The laptop supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and advanced ray tracing technologies powered by the new Blackwell GPU architecture.
Meanwhile, the smaller Zephyrus G14 remains focused on portability while still offering powerful hardware configurations, including AMD Ryzen AI processor options and RTX 50-series graphics. ASUS said the devices are also certified as Copilot+ PCs, featuring up to 50 TOPS of NPU AI processing performance for local AI-related tasks.
The company highlighted that both models retain slim CNC-milled aluminium chassis designs while improving cooling systems through redesigned airflow layouts, upgraded exhaust systems, and intelligent thermal management.
The Zephyrus G16 weighs approximately 1.85kg and measures as thin as 1.49cm, while also supporting fast charging capabilities and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
For Sabahans, the arrival of ASUS’ latest ROG lineup reflects the growing accessibility of ultra-premium gaming and creator hardware in Malaysia, although affordability remains a major consideration.
With starting prices at nearly RM14,000 and higher-end RTX 5090 variants expected to cost substantially more, the devices will likely target a niche audience in Sabah comprising professional gamers, streamers, engineers, software developers, and digital content creators.
In urban areas such as Kota Kinabalu, demand for high-performance laptops has gradually increased alongside growth in gaming culture, livestreaming, video production, and AI-related creative work.
The laptops’ AI-focused features may also appeal to Sabah-based freelancers and remote workers involved in editing, animation, software development, and digital media production, especially as more industries adopt AI-assisted workflows.
However, pricing remains a key challenge for many Sabahans. Beyond the already high retail cost, consumers in East Malaysia often face additional shipping delays, limited stock allocation, and fewer opportunities for in-store hardware demonstrations compared to buyers in Peninsular Malaysia.
The launch also highlights the widening gap between mainstream consumer laptops and next-generation AI-capable computing devices. While premium users may benefit from advanced capabilities, many ordinary consumers and students in Sabah may continue relying on more affordable mid-range systems.
At the same time, the continued availability of cutting-edge gaming hardware in Malaysia signals the country’s growing importance within Southeast Asia’s gaming and digital technology ecosystem.
For Sabah’s younger digital generation, the new ROG lineup reflects how gaming laptops are increasingly evolving into multi-purpose creative and productivity machines rather than devices built solely for entertainment.
