Kuala Lumpur (Jan 26) - Pos Malaysia has confirmed that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will cease issuing physical road tax slips for Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) beginning 1 February 2026. From the same date, Pos Malaysia counters, kiosks and post offices will no longer provide printing services for road tax slips.

The move continues JPJ’s transition to a fully digital system, which began in February 2023 with the introduction of digital road tax. Under this system, road tax and driving licence records are stored electronically and accessed through the MyJPJ mobile application. Motorists can display these details directly from their smartphones when requested by enforcement officers.

While many drivers have welcomed the digital format for eliminating issues such as fading, peeling or damaged stickers, some motorists still prefer to keep a physical copy for reassurance or quick reference, even with the digital option available.

For Sabahans who rely on Pos Malaysia branches, particularly in districts where digital access may be less consistent, this change signals a permanent shift towards mobile-based verification. Those who still wish to obtain a physical road tax slip may do so at Pos Malaysia outlets until the end of January 2026. After that deadline, physical road tax printing and issuance will no longer be offered through any JPJ-related channels, including MyEG and PUSPAKOM.

The transition means motorists in Sabah will need to ensure they are familiar with the MyJPJ app and have reliable access to their digital records, as physical road tax documents will no longer be an option nationwide.
