Sabah Chase Historic FA Cup Glory as They Face Powerhouse JDT in Final

KUALA LUMPUR - Can Sabah overcome Malaysian football powerhouse Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) to finally end their 30-year wait for an FA Cup triumph?

Sabah secured a long-awaited return to the FA Cup final this season, marking their first appearance since 1998 after a 27-year absence.

Supporters now dare to dream even bigger — hoping the team can lift the FA Cup again after three decades. Sabah last won the trophy in 1995, defeating Pahang 3-1 in the final held at Stadium Merdeka, their only FA Cup title to date.

However, the challenge ahead is substantial. Jean-Paul de Marigny’s men must take on JDT, a four-time champion and the strongest obstacle standing in their way.

On paper, JDT remain the favourites, backed by their formidable record. The Southern Tigers have gone unbeaten in domestic competitions for four years, their last defeat coming at the hands of Kuala Lumpur (KL) City in the 2021 Malaysia Cup final, where they lost 2-0.

The final is scheduled to take place on 14 December 2025 evening at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
